Sharing via livestreaming is an easy way for users to share their VR experiences with friends and family on Facebook. This feature has been available for Oculus Go and Gear VR applications. Starting today, livestreaming is rolling out to Rift users via our Public Test Channel.
We want to make sure you have an opportunity to opt-in to livestreaming now. Once your app is enabled for livestreaming, your app's users will be able to stream 2D videos and images onto Facebook. Once a user ends a livestream session, the video of their experience will be automatically saved and shared on their page. Livestreamed experiences from your app will reach your users' friends and followers on Facebook, organically boosting your app's discoverability and audience reach.
If you'd like to support livestreaming, we recommend you review any existing settings in your Oculus Dashboard, and enable livestreaming as desired. To do so, follow the instructions below.
Note: Once you opt-in, livestreaming will immediately apply to all versions of your application unless you turn it off.
Additional Note: All users who are paired to your Organization, or people who have access to your application's “Manage” settings in the Oculus Dashboard, will be able to livestream from the application regardless of your settings. This is only true for these users, not for other people who have installed your application.
For more details on sharing via livestreaming check out our documentation.
