First-Party Audio Spatialization (Beta)

Unity 5.4 versions 5.4.0b16 and later include a basic version of our Oculus Native Spatializer Plugin for Unity 5. It makes it trivially easy to apply basic spatialization (HRTF transforms) to audio point sources in your Unity project.

To activate the Unity built-in Oculus spatializer:

  1. Open your project in the Unity Editor.
  2. Select Edit > Project Settings > Audio.
  3. In the Inspector, select Oculus Spatializer in the Spatializer Plugin selection box.

HRTF transforms will be applied to any point sources as if you had imported the native plugin. For the full functionality, you must download and import the standalone ONSP - see the next section for details.

Using our Standalone ONSP in Unity v 5.4.0b16 and Later

You may import our standard Native Oculus Spatializer for Unity 5, even after activating Unity’s built-in Oculus spatializer in Unity. Our stand-alone ONSP provides configurable room reflections and various other audio settings in addition to the HRTF spatialization that you also get with the built-in Oculus spatializer.

After importing the Native Oculus Spatializer, the standalone ONSP settings and effects will override any settings you have previously made with the built-in spatializer.

Note: Gear VR developers using Unity 5.3.4 or later, or using Unity 5.4.0b16 or later: Do not set DSP Buffer Size to Best in Audio Manager in the Inspector for now or you will encounter audio distortion. Set it to Good or Default instead.
